One summer night, fate brought the artist face-to-face with a scene that left him utterly astounded: a master of micro-sculpture, holding a precision carving tool, was engraving a Tang Dynasty poem onto a single strand of human hair. The impact of this sight was more electrifying to him than a thunderclap; his heart raced, and the image of that astonishing feat played over and over in his mind. From that day on, he harbored a burning desire to carve poetry—and even paint portraits—on a single strand of hair.

He once discussed with fellow artists the possibility of engraving Tang poetry and painting human portraits on a single strand of hair.

After much effort, he succeeded in creating works such as a carving of the poem "Red Plum" on a white hair, a miniature oil painting, and portraits of Jesus, a young girl, President Clinton, and all 42 U.S. Presidents—all executed on single strands of human hair.

In 1987, he painted a miniature *Mona Lisa* the size of a grain of rice and a version of *The Last Supper* one million times smaller than the original masterpiece.
